Nanfang Daily News reported, the 2011 National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in Beijing yesterday. After winning 34 awards last year, Guangdong Province has won 34 awards once again this year.

Guangdong Province has got the same number of awards as last year, but values of the awards are greatly improved this year. The total number of National Natural Science Awards and National Technology Invention Awards tripled compared with last year. Apart from obtaining the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award since 5 years ago, the number of National Natural Science Award is increased from 1 last year to 5 this year, and Guangdong Province is the first completer of four units, among which Sun Yat-sen University claims two. The mount of awards that Guangdong Province accomplished as the first unit is 15, which is still the same as last year.
