On December 27, the Final of SYSU 2013 Teaching Contest for Young Teachers, co-hosted by University Dean’s Office, Dean’s Office of Medical Education Affairs, and Equipment & Lab Management Office, was held in Swasey Hall on South Campus. 22 contestants competed in the Final (The list of winners is attached bellow). The contest was presided over by Professor Deng Shaozhi, Director of University Dean’s Office. Professor Chen Liuping was the head of the expert judging panel. Professor Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU, presented awards to the winners. The young teachers who have just started their teaching career participated in the teaching observation.
The teaching contest included preliminary, semi-final and final rounds. After the preliminary round within schools (departments), over 60 contestants entered the semi-final and competed in four groups: humanities, sciences and engineering; medical sciences; all-English; and laboratory courses. 22 contestants advanced to the final. The contest consisted of lesson plan and teaching demonstration.

After the competition, Professor Chen Liuping summarized the whole process of the contest and affirmed the standard of teaching of SYSU young teachers.
